Foxxxy's got a sore shoulder, BoB's got a sore dick, Solitary has an leg issue and I'm getting a tooth implant, we're human and we need maintenance and treatment. This thread is for matters of a medical nature, not just ours but all medical matters. I'm from a medical family and I've heard a few yarns, one I'll share later.

Including a fair few needles poked in them in the lead up as they checked they'd found everything. Follow up in the years to come because of the dense left breast. Funny, I might not have picked up the lump there if not for the rarer, more obvious type on the right that set me on my journey. Lots of needle pricks and samples later... The actual surgery was less than a week after my birthday, and a few weeks before Christmas. I'm still healing physically, there's no lack of sensation, they're still quite tender. In spirit though I am better than I was in the months leading up, so I'm counting my blessings and the excellent health care I received at the aptly named Breast Clinic at RHP. I still have my radioactive girl card (that's what I call it) I needed to carry after they marked the tumours with 'clips' a few days before the surgery. It was surreal attending the Shania Twain concert with those teeny seeds that had been inserted. I made it out alive and benign all the way through there was no surety till the last results from the surgery. Not a bad Birthday/Chrissie pressie if I do say so myself. Peachy

I managed to sprain my thumb a couple of weeks ago when I literally slid - not fell - off my chair and bent the thumb backwards when I landed . Luckily didn't tear any ligaments and it's slowly getting better but still sore, not helped by my impatience and aggravating it a couple of times at the gym. Also, found out this week that yet another female relative has been diagnosed with cancer so I researched and it looks like I'm very likely at high risk for both breast and ovarian cancer. So, genetic counselling, early mammograms, and maybe removal of ovaries in my future. Fucking cancer. Was hoping we'd get a reprieve after dad, but no such luck.

I have always.. (Since First grade Primary school) been told I has a "Superiority Complex"I was troubled by this over the years, and at age 25, I went to a Psychologist!HE did innumerable testing shit on me..He passed me onto maybe 13 of his colleagues, who carried out even MORE tests..They sent me to Various Universities with mind scanning instruments and measuring shit.. and ultimately wrote papers and studies on my condition and responses..FINALLY, nearly three years later, the Psych Dr got back to me with what was in essence worth a "Doctorate" in itself. He said... "Cavey my old man.. After ALL this study and testing, we have determined that you do NOT have a 'Superiority Complex' "HE followed that by the declaration:"You genuinely ARE Superior"

I've delayed getting myself on the public list, so all my own fault, I'm now on a 1-2 year list for detailed treatment. In the meantime I can present as an emergency as long as I get in before the list is filled for the day. Yesterday involved turning up an at 7:15 am, an hour before the clinic opened, to be first on the list! Minimal wait, 15minutes for actual appointment and we were home by 9 where I then slept most of the day and half of the night, haha before going back to bed in the early hours for more healing sleep. Damn, I feel better today!!! Got so much done I have not been able to get my head around. Toothache does not help with brain function and stress I can assure you. I could not have a root canal because I did not have enough bone to support the tooth, so hasta la vista mofo. Ce la vie, Peachy

Well. It’s been 2 months now since I had a stroke on 29th Jan and then another stroke a week later. That left me in hospital for nearly a month. After being released home and relying on my 15 and 13 year old daughters, Physio and OT I am on my way to recovering. I can walk again without my Zimmer frame or walking stick but still about a month away from being able to go back to work. My 75 yo Dad picks up my kids everyday to take them to school and my 72 yo Mum runs me around to all my appointments. I had my days feeling sorry for myself and many tears after being told they couldn’t find a reason why. I rattle from the medication I now need to take for the rest of my life. I have no intention of letting this beat me and hope that I show my children that no matter how much life can suck sometimes we don’t give up.

My daughter has that same attitude and I have learnt so much from her about overcoming adversity in life. 15 months ago I saw her laying flat on her back at gymnastics training and not being able to feel her legs. That night she had 2 rods and 8 screws in her spine to repair a dislocated vertebrae. She is now paralysed from the hips down. 6 weeks later while in rehab she tried a racing wheelchair at a mentor day with Kurt Furnley and Louise Sauvage. In late May she is travelling to Switzerland to compete with a good possibility of setting a B qualifying time for the Tokyo Olympics next year.

Thank you for the good wishes... Very good luck with your result on the genetic basis! Peachy xo As well as the fact there's no screening tool for it, the early symptoms are pretty vague and can be associated with many other less serious conditions. So by the time it's diagnosed it's often already quite advanced. When one of my aunts first saw a GP about the abdominal pain she was having, he told her it was probably stress and she should find herself another husband. By the time she sought medical attention again the cancer was very advanced and she died within months. Granted, this was about 30 years ago when awareness and diagnosis wasn't as good as it is now, but there are still a lot of stories about women having their symptoms dismissed and put down simply to stress or depression. I would encourage all women who experience symptoms such as abdominal / pelvic / back pain, bloating, problems with digestion, fatigue, changes in bladder or bowel habits, menstrual changes, which are ongoing for more than a few weeks, to go and see a GP. So far testing hasn't found a BRCA gene mutation in our family, but you can still be high risk without the mutation being present.

Make sure you take care of your mental health because you are coming to terms with an event that has a profound impact on your sense of self. You need to be able to talk to people about that for your ongoing well being. I wish you strength and peace. To KJ - well we've being playing games (songs and words) and I want to say I am very sorry too for your daughters loss and for the turmoil you have been through as a result. It is a great story to hear that she is determined and courageous in the face of her disability. I wish her a long, happy life too with lots of physical success. My son was very lucky to avoid a spinal cord injury 10 years ago when the scrum collapsed in on top of him during a game of school rugby when he was was 15. He fractured 2 vertebrae (C4 and C5) but the injury did not extend into his spinal cord. He did not snap ligaments either. Things could have been very different and I am eternally grateful for my son's health.

He failed and in the process his injuries included a lost thumb, yep ripped it offHis psychiatrist told my Cuzzie that he really missed his thumb and wanted it back. So they cut his big toe off and grafted it onto his hand to replace the thumb. This is a BIG job, so I'm told, and it was successful too. The next time Cuz saw the guy he was "using" his thumb! He was actually hitch hiking so Cuz gave him a lift, to the race course, the guy was obviously a bit of a gambler because he told Cuz that he won bets by getting people to bet he could put his big toe on the back of his head!

Op on my back coming up to remove calcification in spinal canal and to widen the nerve channel where next disc up from S1 has slipped forward 5mm and subsequently is pinching my sciatic nerve severely, hope Op works, as nothing else has.

I've taken up an active 'job' that doesn't pay a lot, happy to say I value the excercise and fresh air though. My back isn't so sure lol, a slight strain but I have learned about Ibuprofen. One very happy girl here, I can tell ya! Still a bit iffy when I was just getting busier, lol. I'm hoping to have a bike soon, paid with wages which will be much better. Walking has always been a problem for me, cycling I can do. All the best to peeps who are feeling off, whether it's a lot or just a bit. Peachy

BrightBubbly, hope you are continuing the slow but positive progression since your stroke. Two things, after I had mine, it took a few years and a lot of expensive tests and investigations, before finally, an answer. Don't give up on finding the reason behind it. Sometimes it's just a matter of happening upon the right doctor, specialist or surgeon. Not all know even as much as they should. .. Secondly, and to a degree it sounds like you've done this to an extent but worthy of note for others too, accept assistance when it's offered. I found that truly difficult, I was so used to doing so many things, it was hard to give them over to someone else, no matter how well meaning and it made me feel I'd failed, every time I relinquished another aspect of my life for someone else to do or assist with. We had Very little help, and I was keen to grasp back all I could, as soon as was possible. Sometimes I think some people do the, "oh, if we can help, let us know", without meaning it. Either put them to the test, you quickly realise how few real friends you have, or seek out and accept the genuine offers. There are also great groups around that kids in a caring role can access, even teens. Best of luck. .. Mr. urn. .

Mojo., what you did for that guy, regardless of outcome, was special, and deserves a pat on the back, or your arse, as I see that photo has made a triumphant return. Anyway, good on you. As someone else noted, and I thought, later in the day when I read your follow-up post, you may well have at least allowed for time for loved ones to arrive at his bedside. You've come a long way from those posts a few years back, you're one of the few posters who's comments we always read. Thumbs up from us. .. Mr. urn. .

I once briefly knew contentment in life in my 40's and I think I'm nearly back to contentment with life again.I would gladly have kept on driving except for the fact that I was one of the first on the scene, the dust hadn't even settled, and I felt it was my duty to stop. At the time I took it in my stride but since then I've become more aware of the danger of being on the road. Wanneroo road is a dangerous stretch of road and has been for quite some time, I'm glad my first aid training kicked in when needed. I don't want to use it again but will if necessary.

I have had two frenuloplasty's, one about 3 months ago which is healing nicely. So i.e my frenulum has been removed and I have lost all sensation in this area, BUT, thankfully this does not bother me as I was too sensitive before the first operation, plus I can now slide the foreskin back and forth with ease :P. In 50 days, I will also be having a scrotoplasty without any tissue being removed, this is due to congenital penile webbing (I will let you Google that) which is according to several studies a rare condition. It is aesthetically unpleasing and it prevents the proper use of condoms (at times). So, I think this amount of procedures and the type of conditions is uncommon, I thought I'd share :)

@Mojo. Lol yes. The bottle has a thick glass. My toe did a really great job of it not breaking and alcohol is an excellent pain killer. (Not really. I’m not qualified to give advice on alcohol effectiveness, despite much practice) :)

Numerous injuries and ailments here. Everything from a TIA at 32, dozens of skin cancers cut out or burnt off, 2 breakdowns and years of counselling and medication. More broken bones than i can remember. 2 stuffed knees and a perforated disc in my lumber, as well as a scoliosis. But, the best ones involve my penis. I have had 2, yes 2 unrelated varicose veins on my Bruce. One caused by a shaving nick, the other, no idea. I also had to have a camera up my urethra after I ejaculated blood a few times. The urologist found nothing more than some lacerations, which he concluded were caused by excessive use. He also found a scrotal hernia and described my vasectomy as quote “the roughest one I’ve ever seen. Did you do it yourself?” Thankfully I can report that after rigorous testing, I’m in perfect working order!!

Hope all is well and recovery is finished or in good progress. Had a injury, (pride) son kicked my arse during a fitness challenge between him and me. Was fine on the outside, but inside felt like I’m loosing it. Maybe time to accept i can hand the torch over. Apparently from RHP age formula once your over ???? Age you loose it, Mmmmm. Reminds me of the Tortoise and the Hair, slow and easy wins the race. But fast and fun has its good points. Positive vibes during recovery people.

I rolled my ankle again this morning, and I've been in pain all day. But my dad after his cancer op was given a clean bill of health this week, so all is good in my world. 😊

But my dad after his cancer op was given a clean bill of health this week, so all is good in my world. 😊 Such good news about your dad, must be a real weight off. Sorry to hear you have rolled your ankle again. Once it's been done badly once, really high chance of subsequently doing it again. Some are more prone, due to the nature of their ankles too. We know someone who has to strap theirs, most days. Pain is a bloody nuisance hey. Look after yourself, yeah. .. Mr. urn. .
