Everywhere I have looked for accommodation for that weekend (cause I wanted to go to A&D too) has been a lot more expensive than that . That is the only thing holding me back from coming down unfortunately. Cause I would definitely have loved to have a drink or two with you and a few others.

Have you tried lastminute dot com. Of maybe a hotel jut out if the city. I am in the Randwick/ Coogee area so you may find somehow around there too. There is a very cheap Hotel near the airport. Formula one I think.... Lets face it you won't be in the room for long so....

Looked at both of them and couldn't find any cheap accommodation due to it still being school holidays that weekend. And being to far out of the city defeats the purpose when I would have to spend a fortune on taxi's to get to and from the parties. Due to not having any work at the moment (whole different story) I am on a very limited budget so that is why I have been trying to find a really good deal somewhere close enough to the action that I could walk if necessary to help me save money on taxi's and such but no luck there at all.

MsD, I did see them when I looked on both last minute and wotif....but backpackers is not where I would choose to stay, even taking into consideration Meeka's point of I wouldn't be in the room for long. Guess I am not meant to join you guys this time

Have look at that as well. I can see a studio apartment for $75 a night in Pyrmont. The site is worth a look anyway.

If you stay around Randwick you can go in and out if the city with me. Minimal cost & a cab would be around $25 late at night.

For your suggestions and I will definitely have a look and see if there is anything in my price range. I am trying to work out where would be the best places to stay taking into consideration transfers to and from the airport, and taxi costs to and from both events... (thanks for your willingness to share the cab costs Meeka). If you have any suggestions so that I can narrow my search parameters they would be most appreciated. Fingers crossed I can find somewhere as I was really looking forward to coming down, I could really do with the pick me up of a mini holiday at the moment.

I'm more of a forum lurker than poster but I'm up for coming along and saying hi, it sounds like some fun kind of trouble Parkview Hotel in Ultimo often has cheap rates and there's a Formule 1 in Kings Cross too if people are still looking for accommodation.

Sydney is tough at the best of times, but in the middle of school holidays there wont be any bargains at hotels.I'd suggest Airbnb. You wont get anything in the city, but look for suburbs close by with transport - Newtown, Erskinville, Darlinghust and Surry Hills all have quite a few listings.Mr C

Thanks for the offer but I if I manage to come down it will be for two nights, and I am not a fan of having to move hotels if possible. I have been busy checking out the suggestions that have been offered (thanks everyone) but most of the hotels/motels are booked out that weekend unless I want to pay a fortune (which is just not possible) . I have however checked out airbnb and found some good deals in the outer areas that look promising, just waiting for the owners to get back to me and see how things pan out. So hopefully I might still manage to make it down to meet everyone!! SO I figure if I am making this much of an effort there you locals better get your glam on and make the effort to go And I know the mods will no doubt take forever to put this thru...seriously what takes you guys so long to put our comments up?

Ok, so I edited the event, hit send update and it goes off to be approved. While RHP are doing what ever they are doing, nobody can see the event. Knowing that some of you have tried to register for it, I msg'd the lovely people at RHP asking if they could provide a review/approval on the event. I just got a reply saying there are a number of events pending approval before mine and that I am to contact them if it has not be approved within 7 days ( that would be next Thursday, te day before angels and demons, and two days before te meet and greet). So, now I feel like a goose, am a little disappointed in RHP for the lack of support of paying customers, but most of all am sorry that people can't register. If its not up soon, I'll MSG those of you that haven't been able to register, and give you the details. Any

I think people are having problems not because of school holidays as much it is the wallabies v The Lions that weekend in Sydney..... which might be good or bad depending on your point of view! Hotels will be booked out... lots of places will be rammed (someone must make a joke about that!)

Or, if you're entering from Pitt St I think it's just opposite a new Officeworks building

Have fun to all those who make the meet and greet!It is unlikely that I can make it; this disgusting cough/death rattle thing I have and for which I have been taking medication for days and days has not gone away, and unless there is a miracle (are you listening jesus?) it is unlikely I will attend. Given my almost invisible status, that is no loss.I should add that in any event I was doubtful about going. Although a number of members have been wonderful, some posts have made it clear that being 62 and not having a photo on my profile are bad, and I am just not sure that I would fit in. Anyway, have a lot of fun! Have fun squared!m62

If you're coming via train, easiest is to get off at Town Hall, and walk up through the Galleries Victoria. You'll actually pop out right next to the rear entrance to the hotel. Very easy :)
