Quoting 'Meander So, anyone else think Kylo was a whiny little emo kid? He did come across that way.....but then again I think at least to an extent that is meant to be a part of the character. He's still basically a kid, and he's rebelling against his parents and what they stand for and trying to assert himself with his own identity. It's the whole teenage / young adult angst thing taken to the extreme.

I found it immensely satisfying, and Abrams payed homage to the tone and intent of the originals. It made me a happy fangirl. I loved Rey, and have been having discussions with a friend about Rey and her connection with Luke. He's been doing the math on when Luke left, how old Rey appeared when her parents left her, etc, and trying to figure it out in much more detail than I. I'm interested in seeing where it goes! The collective intake of breath in the cinema at the appearance of the "garbage" ship, and C3PO's appearance said it all - I loved his "you might not recognise me with my red arm" line. As for Kylo, I liked him - but then again, Snape is my favourite HP character. Enough said.

agreed with all the criticisms. It was an "I enjoyed it, but...." kinda movie. So Kylo Ren has been through proper lightsaber training, Luke had to have Obi Wan train him... and anyone who has done fencing can tell you, swordfighting isn't easy against someone who knows what theyre doing. But everyone else seems to do pretty well when they grab a lightsaber. I'm sure they got the scale wrong on the AT-AT that Rey was leaning up against, the foot didn't seem big enough when in ESB it crushed the snow speeder, or tall enough when you remember how far up Luke had to go on the cable. I do think they absolutely NAILED IT in capturing the Star Wars "look and feel" - gone was that hyper crisp nonsense from the prequel, and we had that slightly grainy, but more lifelike look to everything. I enjoyed the jokes that were callbacks to the originals. I was and wasn't a fan of Kylo Ren's casting, I wasn't a fan of just seeing a young Professor Snape - but I like that they matched him up with Harrison Ford in size (HF is 6'1", AD is 6'2") so a decent physical size if not quite the imposing monster that Vader was - particularly when the rest of the cast seems to be topping out around 5'8". Same thoughts as everyone about Supreme Leader. Daisy Ridley was good (though I found the plummy accent a bit intrusive), but I just didn't give a crap about Finn - it really felt like he had to deliver a lot of stuff in cliched "black/african-american style" prevalent in American shows (I'm not saying he _is_ african-american, he's British, so obviously not, just the style of delivery). I rate it just under the original 3, I loved that they got the style of it perfect - but the story felt rushed to me. I _really_ want to see the full uncut version, it just feels like there must have been a lot of scenes cut to get it down to the right length. (It's unfortunate that in the intervening time we've had so much extra fiction added to the Star Wars universe, and that they had to ditch this in order to have such a secret storyline - one of Han's sons becoming Darth Caedus and an excellent villain, and "Ben" being the name of Luke Skywalker's son in the books) I've said it before, but the trailers looked AWESOME for the DC and Marvel super hero movies coming out.

Quoting 'S_OnTheLoose' So Kylo Ren has been through proper lightsaber training, Luke had to have Obi Wan train him... and anyone who has done fencing can tell you, swordfighting isn't easy against someone who knows what theyre doing. But everyone else seems to do pretty well when they grab a lightsaber. I queried how Rey could defeat a Sith Lord with no lightsaber training whatsoever. Granted, he was injured and we already knew she was good with a stick, but... Also, when Kylo tried to read her mind, she caught on and turned it back on him. But where did she get the idea to use mind-control on that Stormtrooper? I don't remember her seeing that anywhere. As for the casting of Kylo: when he first removed his mask, I thought "They picked him for the role? Really?", but by the scene with Han he had grown on me.

I don't remember her seeing that anywhere. snap ( as in the card game ) I thought that too, and wondered if it was a scene that didn't make the final cut. I appreciate you doing a "these are not the droids you're looking for" throwback, but it made sense then - I was tired when I saw this in the morning, I didn't know if I had a microsleep and missed a scene that explained that one. If any of you have friends who will be visiting Disneyland, much of the Star Wars stuff is actually cheapest there, with a few things being better priced at Walmart. The flying millennium falcon quadcopter is under $100, and the snap together metal models are $10 and look REALLY good, not the 20 or 30 they are over here. The Sphero BB-8 droid is much cheaper too.

Quoting 'Meander' Quoting 'S_OnTheLoose' I queried how Rey could defeat a Sith Lord with no lightsaber training whatsoever. Granted, he was injured and we already knew she was good with a stick, but... Remember what Grandpa Gollum ... ah ... Snoke told Hux to get Renn and that it was time to "complete his training", so I guess he isn't quite the full Sith ... There is also an argument going around (that didn't take long!) that there is enough of a Force echo in Anakin / Luke / Rey's light saber that she was assisted in that final battle. Kinda thought Finn should have been dead, considering it looked like his spine had been fairly neatly sliced open (though after receiving the wound that took him out of the fight I was a little amused to see Chewbacca lay him on his back in the Millennium Falcons med bay ...!) I liked the film - took one of my sons to see it this morning. Definitely a retelling of Ep. 4, with loads and loads of parallels, but in reality there wasn't much else that you could do and keep it within the star wars story arc. There is enough difference to make it an interesting watch, enough similarity that will allow different generations of Star Wars fans to be able to relate to each other. I'll leave it a few weeks and very likely go and see it again, I think. Maybe at the Drive in. The single biggest plus? They didn't write in an analog of the Jar Jar Binks character.

Adam Driver as Kylo Ren - I agree that he comes off kind of whiny, but as I re-watch Episodes 2 and 3 with my daughters, I'm reminded that he's nowhere as whiny as Hayden Christiansen (WHY, GEORGE LUCAS?! WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO US?!) I'm hoping that in the case of Kylo Ren that this grating part of his personality will be part of his character development - as are the new scars Rey gave him. On Finn and Rey's abilities to keep up with Ren in a lightsaber duel - Finn did have combat training as a Stormtrooper so it's not completely inconceivable that this training plus some Force sensitivity plus a little help from Luke's saber kept him from being useless. Granted he did get cut down (though we're not actually show how severe the wound is - could've just been a graze that sheared off his clothes and was a fleshwound). For Rey, on the other hand, though, while we don't know what combat training she's had, we did see her perform more than adequately with her staff (anyone notice that certain parts of her staff were actually reminiscent of Darth Maul's lightsaber? Probably a design coincidence, but interesting nonetheless) - the fact that she was strong enough in the Force to intuitively counter Ren's mind-reading and then use Jedi mind-tricks to get out of her restraints says a lot about how strong she has become quickly (I'm not in a position to argue over that yet). I think her Force abilities plus her combat skills plus a little help from Luke's saber PLUS Ren being wounded (which I appreciated that they emphasized with him hitting himself in the side in his frustration with the pain) is what tipped the scales in her favour. Additionally, it may be that Ren being conflicted between the Light and Dark sides of the force keeps him from fully unlocking the abilities of either one and may compromise his abilities as a combatant - and not all Jedi are equally adept with lightsabers either. Finally, the issue of Rey being Luke's daughter. I've heard a variety of theories on this, but I'm having a hard time with it from a logical perspective. Assuming time has passed in the Star Wars universe at the same rate it does here, 32 years have passed. So, being generous, let's say Kylo Ren is 31 years old. We're also told that Luke disappeared shortly after Kylo Ren left. Now, let's be a little conservative and say that Kylo Ren didn't leave until he was 18 (maybe he ran away younger, but I think 18 is reasonable), so that would mean that even if Luke left immediately after Ren did (and it didn't sound like it was), that would mean that Luke has been gone 13 years. Rey is certainly more than 13 years old. Now, I could be totally wrong about this, but I feel like IF Luke had a partner and had a kid BEFORE he left, Leia or Han would have said something about it. So, I don't know - maybe Rey IS Luke's daughter - but if she is, she's his secret love child from before he left. Add in the fact that in Rey's flashback, she looked to be about 3 or 4 when her family left - let's say she's 18-20. Then the timing for when her family left WOULD roughly match up with Luke leaving. But I'm having a hard time with the fact that no one said squat about Luke leaving a family behind when he disappeared. I've heard some other theories that Rey is secretly Ren's twin and that she was hidden away even from Han and Leia (though how, as a Force sensitive, Leia wouldn't know she was carrying twins is beyond me). I think it's bogus. I trust Lawrence Kasdan as an intelligent write - in addition to The Force Awakens, he also wrote The Empire Strikes Back. I think he's got something more interesting up his sleeve than Rey simply being Luke or Han and Leia's daughter. I could be wrong, but I think it's all too convenient right now. And actually, with that, I've got to split - I need to head out to meet my friends at the theatre to watch it again!

She's the only person we have seen who has been able to fight like she did without any training whatsoever, so she must be some super offspring. Product of two Jedi perhaps? Maybe Luke and... ?

Quoting 'tylannister' Assuming time has passed in the Star Wars universe at the same rate it does here, 32 years have passed. So, being generous, let's say Kylo Ren is 31 years old. assuming that he was born pretty much straight away after the end of Empire, do we know that's the case? He doesn't seem that old, both in looks and the way he acts. I'm not enough of a hardcore fan to remember or know all the little details and to calculate out time periods and ages. I assumed that Ren and Rey were around the same age, somewhere in their early 20s.

On Time (and several other sites): Daniel Craig reportedly had a short scene in the film, according to multiple sources close to The Force Awakens. At one point during the story, Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, attempts a Jedi mind trick on a Stormtrooper. Turns out, this Stormtrooper, who never takes his helmet off, was played by Craig.

Just found a Christian site that reported in 2012 on Lando Calrissian's death. It says: "Mr. Calrissian (or simply, Lando as he is known to the worlds geeks) is best known for staring as Donni Cornelius in the first three Star Wars movies." The Christian Onion, love it.

I'm even more convinced that Rey is not a Skywalker - neither from Luke nor from Leia and Han. My friends and I came out of the movie and they were theorizing first that Rey was separated at birth from Kylo Ren. That someone mysterious could've put Leia under and given her a C-section and taken Rey while she was unconscious. They were also theorizing that, if not that, then maybe Rey was Luke's daughter from a secret relationship. Here's a couple things I noticed the second time around. In the Rey's flashback, she does appear to be about 4-5 years old when someone (we're led to believe it's her parents) leave her on Jakku being held by the arm by the alien that runs the junk shop. Later when she finally meets Han Solo, she states that she thought Luke Skywalker was a myth. So, maybe she's Luke's daughter. Maybe she was never told who her father was. And who knows, maybe she is Kylo Ren's twin sister. But to me, that reeks of lazy writing and fan service. We know that there were hundreds of Jedi. 212 Jedi comprised the strike force that attacked Geonosis in Attack of the Clones. We're told that approximately 30 survived. And yes, while most of the Jedi were wiped out by the Empire's Order 66 to hunt down and kill them, it's reasonable that some, like Yoda, hid and survived. Rey could be related to any of those. Alternately, we also know that Force powers can manifest themselves independently of anyone in the family having them. I mean, yes, the whole 'midichlorians' thing from The Phantom Menace is an atrocious plot device akin to the Virgin Mary giving birth to Christ. But if Anakin Skywalker could be born from a mother impregnated by midichlorians to bring 'Balance to the Force', who's to say that it couldn't happen to someone else?

Quoting 'S_OnTheLoose'I'm sure they got the scale wrong on the AT-AT that Rey was leaning up against, the foot didn't seem big enough when in ESB it crushed the snow speeder, or tall enough when you remember how far up Luke had to go on the cable. Also, having seen it again and found a new picture online of Rey sitting by the foot of the AT-AT, I'm confident that it actually is the right scale. If you Google the words 'star wars databank rey' there's a picture of her sitting next to the foot and I think you'll see that with half of it buried in the sand, it is the right size. If she stands up to her full height and the foot is half-buried I don't think she would reach the edge of the foot. With a height of 1.7m, that puts the diameter of the foot between 3 and 4 meters. The snow speeders are 5.3m long. Which, image-Googling 'at-at step on snow speeder' seems to be about right. Sorry. Yeah, I'm a big geek.

Yeah, I'm a big geek. there was a shot showing the body of the AT-AT which is when I thought it looked too small, not the foot - my mistake there - and also a "behind the scenes" shot showing Rey standing on the AT-AT's leg. I'm happy to be wrong and maybe I need to re-watch it, they did a great job with everything I'd hate to have them goof on the scale of an AT-AT (OK, maybe it's only a goof to nerds who'll argue about it, but hey...) IMO there are scaling errors in ESB when we see the full shot of the AT-AT with Luke dangling underneath, to when it steps on the Snow Speeder. The mess up is when they went from the small scale miniatures to the stomping foot. I found a great discussion on originaltrilogy forum discussing the scales, and establishing a 30m tall AT-AT in the miniature based shots, but only an 18m tall AT-AT in the foot crush scene. (hey we're all geeks in here aren't we - for unrelated reasons my vader mask is sitting on the desk behind me, and my AT-AT is acting as a large and ornate doorstop. Yeah ladies, come n get me ;) )

Quoting 'tylannister' But to me, that reeks of lazy writing and fan service. Let's face it, the whole of The Force Awakens is pretty much fan service, and as most people have pointed out the storyline is basically a mashup of the preceding movies with a few tweaks. I think they did that on purpose and I don't think they're really trying to win any awards in the creative plotline department...I think they're deliberately trying to give (most) fans what they want given the backlash against the prequels. Even if theoretically Rey could be a descendant of any of the Jedi it just seems strange to me that they wouldn't give her some close familial link to one of the main characters... particularly given that 'family' and the influence of family on your life is a strong theme running through the whole saga. Who knows, maybe they are going to go somewhere completely different with her. I think they'll be taking a risk if they do though, and I'm not sure that taking risks is what this last 3 episodes are about.

Yeah, but we really don't know exactly how old the characters are meant to be. Without knowing that it's all a lot of conjecture at the moment. Any scenario I think of there are holes that can be picked in it. I think probably we should also keep in mind that when it comes down to it this isn't meant to be high cinema... I know hardcore fans have a lot of expectations from these last 3 movies, but when you start dissecting and looking so closely at all the minute details they'll always come up short in some way. In the end it's a romp about good vs baddies in space... I'm not expecting them to be able to explain everything in a completely plausible way.

First off. Loved it! It was great fun and went by in a flash! A brilliant mix of the old and new and amazing effects that borrowed more from the old school set design than the modern CGI to give the whole thing a very immersive effect. On the negative side there was nothing new about the story (can the Empire really not design something without some sort of design flaw?) but I have a feeling that there will be more of a divergence in the following episodes. I too took a bit of umbrage at Rey being able to mind control the guard but was less bothered by her ability with the lightsabre. Remember how a Jedi dodges laser fire or bounces it back at the shooter... it's not a physical ability that they learn but the force actually giving them a glimpse into the future. If the glimpse is far enough ahead in time then they can simply just put the sabre where it needs to be ahead of time.

theory I was tossing around in my head is that Rey is a descendant (granddaughter?) of Obi-Wan. I didn't know if that could be possible but I've read online that apparently in the animated series, after the Clone Wars Obi-Wan had a relationship with a woman called Satine (I haven't seen any of the animated series myself). Whether they'd bring any plot points from the animated series in though I don't know. Also, I had forgotten that Luke's lightsaber originally belonged to Obi-Wan. As Meander mentioned as well, we're obviously supposed to see that she is 'very' strong in the Force. Could being the descendant of one Jedi alone account for that... Thanks Meander....I wouldn't have started thinking about this nearly as much if you hadn't posted this topic

I came across this story yesterday (which Wikipedia manages to tell in one sentence, below): "In the Star Wars expanded universe of novels and comic books, Han marries Princess Leia, and their three children Jaina, Jacen and Anakin Solo also appear as lead characters in several expanded universe books and other media." Apparently Jaina and Jacen are twins, Anakin is their younger brother... Huh. (NB Seriously, they called their kid Anakin? The guy who effectively killed grandma Padmé? Sick.)

Quoting 'Luck_Dragon' theory I was tossing around in my head is that Rey is a descendant (granddaughter?) of Obi-Wan. I didn't know if that could be possible but I've read online that apparently in the animated series, after the Clone Wars Obi-Wan had a relationship with a woman called Satine Conspiracy theory! It was Obi-Wan who got in on with Satine in Moulin Rouge! I thought that Christian guy looked familiar! She died before he could get her pregnant though, dang. (Love Ewan McGregor)

Quoting 'Meander' "In the Star Wars expanded universe of novels and comic books, I'd say don't even bother looking at anything that has happened in the books or the expanded universe since with this movie they've tossed it out the window with the changes. (As I said, in the books "Ben" was not a Solo, but a Skywalker, and Jacen Solo kills Luke's wife Mara Jade - who was previously in the employ of the Empire) The killer weapon that happened after Return of the Jedi was... called something like star killer, but IIRC it was a craft that could fly into the middle of stars and disrupt them into going supernova, or something like that. Perhaps the Imperial engineers are like that guy who always play rock in rock paper scissors... "they got us the first time, and the second.. they'll never expect us to leave it unguarded the third time"... maybe the imperial accounting department decided a hatch cover presented poor ROI in their risk assessments.

Note to the Empire... Look up CCTV, a little less dough on the dramatic costumes and a little more on some strategically placed cameras...save a whole lot of running around. Oh, and handrails. What is it with the Empire and handrails. Duty of care and all that jazz...

Loved it, the story was pretty much just a remake but some of the acting was the best of any of the star wars series and the sets and production were amazing. I can kind of understand why abrams kept the whole plot and everything secret.. I think many fans would have jumped up and down had they known beforehand what the story was going to be about lol.going to see it again this week but in 3d this time... have heard great things

Quoting 'Taboo4U'What is it with the Empire and handrails. Duty of care and all that jazz... handrails really interrupted the flow of light and space that they'd architected into the hangar bays. I'm also curious about all the massive, open shafts they have inside their ships which seem to serve no apparent reason besides providing dramatic death/suicide options. If they were ventilation shafts, you couldn't even stand in them for the amount of airflow and heat that you'd be shifting if the shaft was that big (first time that phrase has been used in a non-sexual way on RHP) - same on Death Stars, Star Destroyers, Cloud Cities, etc.

So Finn's former name was FN2187, right? In A New Hope when Princess Leia was held captive by the Galactic Empire, her cell number was 2187.

Didn't like it that much, I just found it entertaining for the special effects value; I thought the large amount of dialogue seemed pointless at times and did little for story progression or character development. The death star scene was also a bit of a disappointment, it felt/looked too much like a video game set to easy mode and a bit of an anti-climax. One saving grace for me was Adam Driver - the guy is a beast at acting. Love him in 'Girls', loved him in Star Wars.

There were a lot of cameos. The whole list can be found online. Simon Pegg was Unkar Plutt the junk dealer, and Carrie Fisher's daughter played one of the Resistance fighters.

From Time: Ewan McGregor and Frank Oz reprise their iconic Star Wars roles during a scene in The Force Awakens that also brings back the voice of the late Alec Guinness. The familiar voices can be heard during a flashback vision sequence, director J.J. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. McGregor portrays Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels, while Oz is known for being the well-known voice of Yoda. Guinness played Obi-Wan in George Lucas’s original Star Wars trilogy before he died in 2000. “You do hear a little bit of Yoda. You hear Luke yelling out, ‘Nooo!’ from that moment in Empire. And you hear Obi-Wan at the end say, ‘Rey … these are your first steps,’” Abrams told EW. The scene takes place midway through the movie during Rey’s dreamlike flashback. Does Obi-Wan really speak to Rey somehow?

Lor San Tekka, the only person who knows where Luke Skywalker is, lives on the same planet as Rey. That's obviously not a coincidence and it doesn't look like the most happening place. Does Lor know Rey? Does he know about her? Has he been keeping an eye on her all her life after her parents left her?

I shared that one on several friends' Facebook pages today, loved it. Also, about my earlier post about Ewan McGregor:Quoting 'Meander' From Time: Ewan McGregor and Frank Oz reprise their iconic Star Wars roles during a scene in The Force Awakens that also brings back the voice of the late Alec Guinness. (...) you hear Obi-Wan at the end say, ‘Rey … these are your first steps,’” Abrams told EW. I've read that the word "Rey" was said by Alec Guinness (they used a sound bit from somewhere, seeing he's been dead for years). The rest of the sentence Ewan especially showed up for.

Quoting 'Meander' I've read that the word "Rey" was said by Alec Guinness (they used a sound bit from somewhere, seeing he's been dead for years). The rest of the sentence Ewan especially showed up for. I thought that fact was pretty awesome. Apparently the sound engineer used Alec Guiness speaking the word, "Afraid" for the 'Rey' sound. Also, other interesting tidbit - there's writing on the side of the Rebel pilot helmet Rey puts on after she eats her dinner. It looks like 73something something. But it's one of the established languages in the SW universe and someone's found that it spells 'RHAE'. Interesting, I think.

Quoting 'S_OnTheLoose'IMO there are scaling errors in ESB when we see the full shot of the AT-AT with Luke dangling underneath, to when it steps on the Snow Speeder. Yeah ladies, come n get me ;) ) Yeah, as soon as I posted my comment, I found another site detailing the scale issues in the Empire. I think, though, in this age of digital technology and especially with Abrams and everyone at Lucasfilm knowing that these movies are going to be scrutinized under a microscope by fans these days, those type of scaling issues wouldn't be allowed to fly.

And the fact you started this post makes you even sexier. Yes I thought Ren was a little whiny emo kid Finn didn't really do it for me that much in the acting stakes As for Rey being Luke's daughter I thought yes it might be the case but on the other hand is it too obvious a plot line. But we shall see. Awesome that there are so many ladies on here that enjoy Star Wars . I'll be going to see it again for sure and soon. Can't wait for Rogue one to come out next December

Sorry I haven't followed the entire thread but I'll chime in with the following: "Traveling through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova, and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?" - Han Solo to Luke Skywalker in Episode IV Sadly this point comes full circle at the end of the sequel trilogy. Episode IX in a nutshell: Shortly after the party with the Ewoks at the end of Episode VI, Han had a bit too much Corellian ale and crashed the Millenium Falcon on Jakku. Sadly Luke, Leia, Solo, Chewy and Lando were all killed, R2 and 3PO were destroyed with the ship and Vader's (supposedly armoured helmet) was left mangled and molten. Point to note, firewood without a chemical reaction 'shouldn't' damage Vader's (real) armour, unless it was the plastic prop used by David Prowse in E5. There is no Kylo, Rey, First Order etc. The empire made the Death Star in E4 which was subsequently destroyed, they decided bigger is better and that too was blown to bits in E6. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. At this stage, it's difficult to fathom the degree to which there has been a lapse of common sense, let alone on the part of a Sith Lord/dark side user who would have endorsed and dedicated resources to a failed project that's exponentially riskier than the previous two failed attempts. I was particularly tickled that they fired one shot that took out an entire system of planets, could be seen from other planets and yet they assembled their entire army at the same location. I guess these guys haven't played counter strike/medal of honor (once a sniper shoots their position becomes compromised). Perhaps the dark side blinded them? Han finally gets the death he always wanted after becoming one with the force (Harrison Ford wanted Han dead back in 1983). Everyone in the force awakens is now one with the force but they have not yet realised it. Disclaimer: Although I read the part about the First Order army being a sitting duck elsewhere, I have no idea if anyone else has hatched a similar theory. I've only seen E7 once and was slightly distracted due to some technical issues during the screening, which may have contributed to my sarcastic 'point of view'. I should probably watch it again for a less biased perspective Great movie for the new generation which I'm sure is the target audience, my nephews and nieces loved it

... Saw it ages ago but like to let a little time sink in before making a final judgement on certain things.... I'm not a huge fan of the original trilogy (yes I've seen the old school ones, I didn't see the horrible updated ones Lucas put out on DVD 'til later), I think you need to have seen them as a kid to really enjoy them and I didn't first see them until I was 17 or 18 at a mate's insistence. I find them enjoyable enough. The prequels I found to be pretty souless, badly acted and just tedious(despite the frankly dazzling array of Hollywoo's finest actors being involved in it's production). I hated Jar Jar and Anakin was a wet blanket. Even the normally solid Ewan McGregor and the brilliant Natalie Portman were painful to watch in them. I had high hopes going into this one though as I love what Abrams did with the Star Trek reboots and I thought he was the man for the job for this. I liked what I heard about him going back to the old way of filming more, using models and animatronics whenever possible rather than CGI and I liked the idea of continuing the story rather than going back and filling in gaps... That being said, did it live up to my expectations? Well, there were a lot of pretty silly plot devices... It seemed strange that John Boyega had to put on an accent while Daisy Ridley didn't (though he did a fantastic job with the American voice I must say), and his dialogue was quite often a little corny... I really liked Rey and I wasnt expecting to so that was nice... But. Did roll my eyes a little that they couldn't come up with a new idea besides another death star... And the fact that a *lot* of the story ideas were lifted straight from the original trilogy (droid given important information to look after anyone?)... And I had to suspend disbelief more than I ordinarily would have liked at people being able to see the new death star weapon being fired and it's effects in real time from the surface of a planet that. Is supposed to be in another star system and therefore light years away.... Oh and the fact that the first time the weapon is fired the first order troops on the surface if it are standing in daylight but then later we're told that the weapon uses up the nearby Sun and so they should in fact have been standing in night time like they are later... And of course as others have mentioned the newbies natural abilities with the light sabers was a bit silly... And so... With all that going on, what did I think of the movie? I fucking **LOVED* it! Fucking pure entertainment from start to finish. Well cast, better acted than any of the previous ones, beautiful set production, design and effects, brilliantly paced never dull for a moment, funny, charming and engaging. Quality film. Will definitely look forward to the next one. :-) - Posted from rhpmobile

I'm now absolutely convinced that Kylo killed Han to help defeat Snode, and he did so with Han's blessing. He wasn't setting Han up by saying "Help me" and I think Han knew what he was agreeing to when he said "Anything". I believe that's why Kylo said "Thank you" so sincerely after skewering him.

Quoting 'Meander' I'm now absolutely convinced that Kylo killed Han to help defeat Snode, and he did so with Han's blessing. A friend said that if Kylo is a good guy, he would not have injured Rey and Finn. I don't believe he is a good guy at all, but there is still a little light in him (as Leia says) and he will help defeat Snode because of that. Yeah, I'm aware that makes him sound like Snape, which I'm not happy about.

Well, as this basically seems to be a reboot of the original Episode IV, killing Han in analogous to Vader killing his father figure Obi Wan Kenobi, and when you consider that Leia and Han are his parents it also neatly sets us up for Renn killing Snoke while Rey is being saved scenario, a la Vader killing Palpatine to save Luke. I also think he's still quite conflicted in his personality ... good/bad, light/dark, emo/not-emo, gay/straight, so it's really setting us up for loads of storyline options in the future.
