Good for you. I'm inspired after reading that to take more control myself, plenty more I should have blocked by now. You're right, it is our profile and we should control who we allow to see it, as opposed to being made to feel guilty about it

lol another one out on parole 😂 I'm sorry to those people, I can't even remember why I blocked you. Knowing me, a reaction to something that happened in here, but whatever it was, it's long forgotten. You're awesome and I'm sorry 😊

Quoting 'AbnormallyNormal' I block first and ask questions later. Seriously, I block people who: 1. Can't take no for answer (abuse or pleading - either are gross) 2. Continuously visit my profile even after I've said no. (I know what you're doing, use someone else's pics) 3. If we have a good rapport but then they show face pics and I'm not attracted. I say thanks but no thanks then block. This is because these are the ones who tend to be abusive - I'm sorry I'm not attracted to you but I'm just not. 4. They're creepy AF or super old and I just get the heebie jeebies about them stalking my profile all the time. 5. Sometimes I use block if I think their body pics are nice but I don't like their face pics or personality. It stops me from accidentally engaging with them again. (I tend to delete my messages a lot). I figure, my account, I have final say over who views me and blocking is an easy, non-offensive way of doing it. I love the block button! I use it the way Abnormally Normal does - and in a heart beat. Why? Because I can. I have pages of them. The worst thing is when I have blocked someone and they still keep trying to check out my profile. They come up tin my "who has viewed you' list. Creepy! I have regulars that do that - you'd think they would get the hint! KH

... over obnoxious people ? In saying that , I've never blocked anyone that I can remember. But then again I'm male and usually it's males that get blocked anyway. I don't have a clue who might have blocked me and I don't really care..

I have been blocked by a couple of people on here, never flirted them, never sent a message, so it must be some petty retaliation for comments in the forums or some such. So I can't look at someone's profile, big deal, oh I feel so wounded. Not. If it makes you feel better, go for it.

Quoting 'Sailbadthesinner' I have been blocked by a couple of people on here, never flirted them, never sent a message, so it must be some petty retaliation for comments in the forums or some such. So I can't look at someone's profile, big deal, oh I feel so wounded. Not. If it makes you feel better, go for it. Sometimes I do look to a poster's profile to see (or remind) where they're located, or their interests/hobbies that might be interesting or relevant to stimulate discussion. In that way, I think use of the blocking function may detract from people gaining understanding of each other's perspectives, and therefore also the quality of discussion in the forum. If someone looks to your profile, it does not necessarily follow that the viewer wants to jump your bones, collect your pictures, or is engaged in stalking you.

Complaints abound in the forum, Of lack of good taste and decorum. Some see the thing To deliver a sting, Is to abuse, to gaslight, or to block 'em.

Dusting's been done. All I said was I blocked someone because they felt the need to send me a personal message with advice about how I should post comments on the forum 👎fragile ego?

Good on you ladies! There are some jerks on these sites that should think about what they are about to say to people who are more than a pair of tits & a pussy! All of us have feelings & emotions & at times, can be rather sensitive. Would they like their sisters, girl friends spoken to in the same way? I WOULD THINK NOT!

The common view of single women and couples is that single guys are not desirable. Often, they will put you on their block list, just because you view their profile. That's why I refer to them as Blockheads. I can't remember how long I have been on Redhotpie, but long enough to realise that as a mature single male, I am unlikely to attract any attention, so I am here purely to occasionly look at some profiles until I realise that I am wasting my time.

Hmm... it's quite petty to get blocked over differing views on something. But the pettiness is an indicator of the true character of the blocker. Open minded and able to handle differences in opinions, yeah... riiiight! I used to think, and I still think, that just because someone is of a different opinion, that isn't grounds for a block. I think I've been pretty magnanimous because I haven't blocked people I ought to because of the harsh exchanges in the forums that strays into the personal attacks and hitting below the belt category. However, I have recently decided to indulge in retaliatory blocking. You don't fight barbarians with civilised manners, I often say to my friends IRL. So I've decided to apply the same tactic here. If a forumite is petty enough to block me, I will simply block them back. Easy peasy! I know men get a deluge of fiery comments targeted at them if they daresay that "some women are mental in here" but I actually agree with that statement. I feel bad that those guys have decided to leave the forum because they actually had pretty rational posts full of common sense and are very grounded. I suppose the truth hurts. :P These are the same irrational women who like to hide behind some feminism idealism but the bipolarity and aggressive quarrelsome stance isn't lost on the more sensible and rational amongst us. And the same ones then put up posts batting their eyelids and acting all innocent, and you can't help but wonder, delusional much?! It's a privilege to be blocked by the likes of such, I daresay! It means we aren't birds of a feather, wahoo!!!

Quoting 'PurePeony' Hmm... Open minded and able to handle differences in opinions, yeah... riiiight! ...you can't help but wonder... With regards "irrational", I am reminded by a scene in '8 mile' (which was on TV last night) where, drunk and upset over relationship breakdown, Rabbit's mother kicks him out of the trailer. Then upon her return from grocery shopping the next day, she invites him back in for pancakes... Having read and participated in the forum since last year, I understand your frustration. I articulate some of my own in a couple of limericks below, but first some background explanation: I think interactions in the forum do give some indication of mental acuity and the capacity for memory retention. Several times the same issues have cropped up, whereupon positions and rationales have been articulated, claims have been made in respect of particular principles/ideals/values, only for those claims by some to be betrayed by the content and tone of their subsequent posts. I find the repetitive nature of such instances tedious and tiring as I've tried to articulate my own thoughts on these various matters in a variety of ways at different times to account for the different ways individuals might relate to a concept, but I too have grown less patient. I'm certainly no saint, but I do not usually seek to be nasty (as easy and satisfying as that may sometimes feel). I get particularly irritated by the inanity and childishness of off-topic confrontation loaded with snide remarks and mockery directed at efforts to study and learn and improve. If an individual elects not to undertake such endeavours, they ought at least be grateful there are other individuals who do seek and make effective use of education. Even today there are many societies standing as example of what you might expect if you don't value education, discussion, and debate. Anyhow, to my abovementioned limericks (whose barbs will snag only those with powers of comprehension, self-reflection, and/or a guilty conscience): Can read but not comprehend; Frustration will see no end! Were you just too cool To learn it at school? Not willing to teach you again. You could don rose coloured glasses, Or apply learning from classes - It's not for the faint When the haters try paint - Stick their tar brush in their arses.

It would be more petty of me to be regularly having pointless arguments with certain posters, rather than just ignoring them. Blocking helps me to ignore them. (For those who are all, 'you should read everyone's comments to be exposed to different opinions and points of view etc.', I only block once it's become clear that it's more than just a matter of differences in opinion. I get plenty of exposure to different opinions and points of view on other platforms I use, I'm not lacking in awareness of the diversity of views that are out there. Sometimes you just continually clash on a personal / personality level with people on here, and I see no point for either party in continuing to engage if that's the case.)

I couldn't care less if others think I'm petty - as I said before, I block for a variety of reasons. It's my profile, I'll do whatever the hell I want 👍 I have no idea who has me blocked, because I don't care enough to go looking.

No love lost there. Your posts annoy me at times too. I didn't even realise you've blocked me because I often do not bother clicking on profiles unless I'm really bored. Or the photos are stunning or strange and unique and you only get to see it larger if you click on the profile. I don't bother to read one of the forumite's posts anymore but I read yours this morning so it isn't you! Enjoy your Sunday! I'm off to make mischief IRL!

So many do not care about my comment that blocking others for frivolous reasons CAN be petty that they have posted comments to declare that they do not care! And how does blocking someone prevent their annoying posts from showing up? You'd have to teach me that trick, Meander. The person may be blocked, but the posts will still appear when I read the forum threads. Do you have to be a paid member to enjoy that privilege? The scroll-down function is thankfully free.

You may be eccentric and unique, but you are never vicious and you've never made personal attacks. You seem to be playful and more of a lover than a warrior. No grounds for blocking, IMO. Now, I don't know what you might have done to get yourself blocked ... did you do the unsolicited flash thang and upset quite a few?

How would notification that I have posted in any thread pop up in your feed at all, seeing that we aren't friends? I only get notified in my feed if someone on my friends list posts something.
-

If you are following a particular thread - as in you've clicked on "Follow this thread" at the top of the page - then comments made by people in response to that thread will show in your feed, regardless of whether you are friends or not. When you block someone, the comments that they make in the thread won't show in your feed, although you will still see those comments in the thread itself.

Immediately after my post above, I posted a note of clarification which the moderators appear to have deleted (or not approved). In it, I further explained my use of limerick as a means of satirising particular behaviours. Particular limericks of might be considered a mirror held to reflect back a view put on display in some individuals' posts. It is worthwhile to know/understand/remember the term 'double entendre', and also that 'frustration' (which I did state I share) is experienced by the sender and the receiver when miscommunication occurs. The deletion of my earlier post by the moderators has itself proved somewhat mischievous in that sense. (The fact I use this post to now 'teach' again is not intended irony. It might more clearly indicate the above limerick was held to be viewed by other individuals).

I'm not eccentric really...just ''slightly'' disturbed and usually during a full moon. Thank you for your kind words! That said and whilst I know that I have probably set some sort of a record for being blocked, I actually have started my own list and it too is quite....remarkable. Quoting you "...in light of some comments and a few that I am sure drink too much red wine (even for breakfast) my block is list is getting quite impressive." That is offensive across the forum and unnecessary. And no, not a drop of alcohol consumed for months here, I can't afford to drink, barely afford to eat 👎

am I not surprised. And speaking of being not surprised, other judgements and insults ironically stated to highlight those personality/posting floors in others 😉 'petty' being quite mild in comparison to 'Rottweilers' 'venom' 'viscious' ............and so are the days of your perfect life, in your little drama society there 😏

I may break my duck of no blocks if anyone looks unfavourably on someone by comparing them to Rotties. A beautiful breed, with only a few idiot owners who've been the issue. My old friend (may his soul rest in peace') was so viscous he had to sleep in the garage with the light on ... as he was afraid of the dark. - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'Meander' I've just emptied my block list (all 13 pages). Time for a fresh start. Let's see how log it takes before I have a full page again... Unless of course you re-blocked me despite having precisely zero interaction with me since you posted this and me having almost zero interaction with this site in that time as well. Which makes a mockery of your fresh start angle.

2 dudes who incessantly checked my profile to the point it was creeping me out and some chick from QLD who I have no recollection of and so no idea why they are blocked, it may have been an accident, I don't know. I support people using their blocklist for whatever reasons they want. When I get blocked after 1 view I assume that I know them somehow or that they take an aggressive approach to filtering unsuitables which I understand as I have also experienced repetitively loading a profile with anticipation only to find that for some reason they are unsuitable. I find people who broadcast when they are blocking someone to be pathetic.

What an interesting read! Thank you for all those who replied! I go away and get caught up in life for a bit and come back to find almost a riot happening in here. I think we're all different in our opinions and how we perceive things and I love seeing the different opinions. I still stand by my reasons for blocking people and, if you've told someone you're not interested but keep getting the messages or just get a message which is blatantly rude and/or abusive, I don't see why the person needs any kind of notification or explanation that you're blocking them. I think we all need to feel respected to a certain degree and have every right to stop communication if we feel that right hasn't been upheld. Sometimes, I just wish there was a block button for people that I sometimes have to deal with outside of the cyber world, but I just need to put my big girl panties on and deal with them and today was certainly no exception. 😄

By a guy who complimented me BUT had a HUGE DICK PIC as his profile picture....we have conversed politely before so I felt it necessary to let him know via previous chats we've had that I don't enjoy cockshots and think he should keep tat in his PG1 where people can ask to see it if that's what they want. I then thanked him (not) for force feeding me his dick first thing this morning..... He came back with I shouldn't be taking him to task over a RESTRICTED IMAGE THAT I CHOSE TO VIEW. Well mate NO I didn't choose to view it, it's your MAIN profile picture that every financial member here can see and it wasn't in your PG1 etc. etc. It's nice that your partner is proud of her pic taking prowess there's nothing wrong with that, just shared a common perspective as you've also noted I don't have any pink bit pics and rarely share my PG1 with anyone and you previously respected that. Nice to see however that after you blocked me you changed your main profile picture to your big head and not your little one. Thank you for blocking me.....now I don't have to see or hear from either ever again.

By someone who said I wasn't his type, complimented me and then asked me a (benign) question about RHP! Interesting! He obviously didn't want an answer... Maybe he thought I would be upset with a man who didn't think I was his type? Attraction is attraction and individual so not a problem - I'm a grown up. The amusing thing was the question at the end of the message and no way to reply ;) KH
