Quoting 'Luck_Dragon' I've watched the whole series and didn't become apoplectic once. Not sure why a feminist would become apoplectic over anything in it, unless they are of the very militant variety. Thought you were referring to a subplot Sailbad but just clicked at what the feminist dig was about. I suppose the central storyline of THT might be a shock to someone who didn't know anything about it but I'd say many if not most women who are ok with calling themselves feminist already knew, it was a pretty famous book before becoming a TV show and has a bit of a cult popularity. It's not like it's condoning what happens to the women in that society, quite the opposite, and the book's author is a bit of a hero in some feminist circles. Which I don't necessarily agree with.

Never read the book, not familiar with the author, wasn't having a dig at feminists or feminism. I just commented on the show as it unfolded in front of me. So, you thought wrong.

Quoting 'Luck_Dragon' Next on the watch list is the first season of Top of the Lake with the same lead actress, have been meaning to watch it for ages but never got around to it. Just found out they're releasing a second season soon - based in Sydney instead of NZ - so decided I should finally tick it off my list. Have you checked out American Gods yet?I was looking for something interesting, and someone here was raving about how good it was. I've not read the book/s...I rarely do any more, and the salesman at JBHiFi raved about it, too...and it's pretty good so far. I'm six episodes in and I like it. It's quite gothic. Dark and brooding. Not criticism free...standards are high these days...but still good.

Most people I know have already read the book, discussed the issued, parallels and tangents. The show is definitely a little darker and I hear second season will be more so. I loved it, found it totally engrossing, and I think it is very well done and certainly can raise various discussion point, especially regarding religion and control of women's affairs and reproduction. If you think of places where religion has a strong hold, it's really not a huge leap.

Thanks for asking. Yes I'm okay, just working through matters of the heart 😉 but I got to speak to him today and that cheered me up, but up until then, had been listening to Neil Young 😀 stupid listening to him, guaranteed to bring the tears on. I don't want to jinx it AND IM NOT BRAGGING .... but this weekend coming, my sexy AF boyfriend is coming down and staying at ours for a coupLe of days with me, hubby and our daughter. On one of those days we're spending with the other Hotwife and her gorgeous man too ... I love my network of people (there's more of you to this network and you know who you gorgeous people are) xx I'm not nervous but excited about that. I'm inspired by my hubby's wonderful approach and openness to it all 💓, my daughter being so comfortable and gorgeously mature with the situation (and she's 17 1/2) and last but not least, my BF, who's so respectful and considerate about so many things, especially me and my insecurities lol. I understand many of you don't like my choices, think children shouldn't be exposed to these open relationships ... but those who know me know that personal integrity is one of my strongest qualities ... if my family wasn't ready I wouldn't be suggesting we all stay together. We are all navigating waters new to us ... neither I, hubby or my BF know what the 'rules are or should be' but with care and concern, hopefully we overcome any challenges :) So with a tentative excitement ... I look forward to the weekend ❤️ Mary xx

Quoting 'Betty7216' Putting yourself out there, and risking your heart, is so much better than the beige, "playing it safe" reality of most (as a very smart friend keeps reminding me 😉). Just a bit of respect, reciprocation, and regular sex would be nice, but apparently is too much to ask for. And for me, given the other complications that I have in my life, there comes a point where I really have to ask myself if all the shit is really worth it.

LD and sorry to hear you're feeling the same. It's so frustrating and although there are much bigger problems in the world, on a personal level devastating so I am really sorry you're hurting too. Timing is a big factor with my guy/friend just coming out of a marriage, hasn't even had a chance to experience being single. Did you see what I did there? You know how you live in hope they'll change their mind, you know they won't but that hope still comforts the soul? The stupid thing is that we don't take out out our checklist lol and tick off the pros and cons when you first meet someone, it just happens as you connect with them so technically, not wise to fall for him but who is wise in that situation? When cupid steps in, the checklist gets hurled out the window 😂😂 I would imagine you are also considering giving up men at this point? 😉

Yes, and I'd forgotten just how good he was, haven't listened to his music since I was young, brilliant songwriter and musician. Quoting 'I_touch_myself2'I would imagine you are also considering giving up men at this point? 😉 considering how demoralising and difficult it is to just find a respectful FWB who doesn't just see me as a set of holes to fuck, let's just say I'm totally over it at the moment. I realise that for me my location might not help, but then again I see lots of women in the big cities with the same frustrations as me so location may not be as much of a factor as I think it is. I have a long and complicated history with sex and men and although I've made a lot of progress in dealing with my past, every time I go through one of these episodes it sets me right back and I put up huge emotional walls again. I can't keep going like this, but how exactly I will go forward I have no idea at this point. I love sex, but I love being emotionally healthy as well. At this point it seems like I can't have both at the same time. I wish you all the best with your own struggles ITM. I know we clash a lot but I do often agree with the things you say and you do have a lot of qualities that I admire.

Don't love how fiddly it can be to put on with all the fasteners and adjustments but the end result is worth it. I originally thought the one in my current profile pic was just a one piece thing and would be easier to put on, but when it arrived I realised it has separate rope you have to twist around and through the loops. Was a bit daunted at first but turned out to be easier than I thought.

You think at my age I'd have learnt by now :-/ - Posted from rhpmobile This exact same thing happened to a lovely friend of mine here in Melbs recently. When she told me about the guy she liked and how he was a few years younger than her, I thought, uh oh, I have a funny feeling he's just being polite and isn't actually interested in my friend. Nevertheless I told her I hoped everything worked out the way she wanted but dammit, a couple of weeks later she said it turned out that he was after another friend of hers. My friend was very hurt. I couldn't help thinking jeez, I knew the result before it even happened. My friend is such a lovely gal - she deserves the best but can't seem to find anyone sincere. Seriously, it's not rocket science. Why make other people sick and gastro is horrible. Hugs from me xx

Most of you know that I'm in a poly relationship and this weekend was a big weekend for my tribe :)My BF came down to Melbourne and spent three days at ours with my hubby, myself and my daughter. It was a wonderful weekend and I put that down to the dedication and effort of all four of us. I know some dont agree that 'children' shouldnt really know about that aspect of their parents life but Iike living as honestly as possible. Hubby was wonderful and welcoming as always, even though he had reservations and it was a great leap of faith (due to it being a first and new) but he trusted in all of us :)My daughter, who at 17 1/2 has such a high emotional and social intelligence, was able to discuss some of her concerns with the unusual situation of having dad and BF together ... but she too trusted the situation and again she too had an amazing weekend. She understands that healthy relationships can come in a number of permeations :)I cant imagine how challenging it may have been for my BF to join a family and find his place in it ... he was the one who had to work the hardest as he was coming into an established family unit ... his respect for everyone but still maintaining his own integrity of who he is, was amazing. He worked hard to get to know our daughter and to be respectful of everyone. It was an unusual meet for us lol ... we couldnt ravage each other like we do when we normally meet up because of our situation and I worried about that but I shouldnt have ... it was just as exciting sneaking in some play and us time, going from bed to bed, cuddling up and discretely being us ... We have always navigated our situation as it works for us because this isnt a one size fits all approach but as I looked at my extended tribe oveer the weekend ... I felt blessed :) Mary xx

It is one year tomorrow that my boyfriend and I began a serious relationship ... 12 months since my hubby, my boyfriend and I started living a poly relationship. What started as FWBs early April, quickly became a loving, new relationship. Its not been easy and I've posted about that. The difficulties were always in establishing boundaries, understanding wants and needs, ensuring the social and emotional needs of us all were met and continuing to grow as individual couples. But I love where we are :) Nowukas :) Baby, thank you for the last 12 months. You're loving, generous, funny, frustrating, infuriating, understanding, kind, repectful, considerate and sexy as fuck. Things have been tough at times but we're navigating unchartered territory. It's been painfully raw at times but we continue to communicate though our challenges. Thankyou for choosing me, for loving me as you do, for forgiving my outbursts and jealousies. I'm excited about our future and all the possibilities we can share together ...I love you ... Mary xx

Random question/s: I have been trying to find an event suitable for attending as a single male and two friends that are a couple, but which isn't a hardcore players party. Any suggestions? I know all the parties I have attended alone but they are all players parties. In this case we will probably just sit around and chat/watch. Also, we would probably be splitting entry cost evenly regardless of the actual entry prices. For example, if it was $50 for the couple and $100 for me, we would look at paying $50 each. I want to know would that matter if we did that at the door, would they make a fuss? Or would they not care because they are simply getting the total owing? (It would be more an issue perhaps if the couple was actually free).

My annual rant (I try not to do it very often). I know of four commercial events now that are $150 or over for men. Let's say I invest in some fancier dress, combined with food and drink for the evening, plus the travel in my case that applies, it's starting to push $250 for a night out, even just to try to talk to new people. (My favourite play event is about $50 entry by comparison). It's one of the reasons I haven't been to any commercial event for nearly a year now. But there is good news, I have been attending FL "munches" (for those in the know), with good success at making social connections. - Posted from rhpmobile

If the majority of men didn't think with their dicks it wouldn't work would it ? But they do and it does. And while some men may object and turn away theres always a dozen more to take his place. Sometimes when it comes to respect and "equality" men are their own worst enemy. I'm not having a go at you, just stating the obvious. (My mini rant)

Yup it's a bloody expensive bit of fun for everyone , not just the single guys , but it is what it is ,so we don't do too many in the city ,but when we do we like to treat ourselves, especially if we stay In a hotel in the city cos it gets too late to go home if you live over an hour away and your out too late late having a great night to be bothered , $100 for the event ,$100 for the lady's nails ,hair and what she needs to do to make her feel the sexiest she can ,150 for a hotel at the cheapest and pray it's not on a major event weekend or you can't find a garbage can for that price ,add in dinner for 2, drinks for 2 for the evening ,then breakfast etag and petrol , and some need a baby sitter for the kids ,sudddenly your pushing $250 is looking bloody pretty good ,but it is all relative to what you can or cannot afford ,so we choose to spread them out and are becoming quite selective , - Posted from rhpmobile

I do know that other events, concerts, entertainment etc cost a similar amount. I have been speed dating on a number of occasions when the price was approximately $80, not though for many years, although I have had thoughts of trying again (sucker for punishment lol). I understand how the cost of going out jumps a lot when you add in accommodation, which I would never do on my own, at least two or more can share the bill. I'm happy to drive home at any hour, and staying over also means I have to pre-plan accommodation for my dog and add the extra associated travel. - Posted from rhpmobile

I understand more of the dynamics when it is a play orientated event as they seem to be, however assuming (believe it or not) if I wasn't there for play, it becomes a very expensive way to have a conversation or two. But then again, a similar cost to my counsellor! :p - Posted from rhpmobile

The cost of speed dating is $80! Wow, the operators must be raking in a fortune. Don't you guys have swingers parties in Victoria? They are cheaper than established clubs aren't they? You would also find people who are more interested in meeting single males too at certain parties. Why would you be so keen to go to places were the couples are only interested in each other and single women anyway plus paying $150 for the privilege? Although I agree that single men get a rough deal. I think events such as Saints and Sinners and swingers balls should allow everyone.

Single men are restricted for good reason. Sure, a few dickheads fuck it up for the decent ones. Too many single males at an event like saints and sinners and it's like a pack of wolves. They need to be controlled as in vouched for by couples that know them. Even in small parties I've seen them hovering with a condom on, eager for an opening of sorts......

We WERE a supporter of selected single guys at party's ,but after the last couple of party's ,most are ok but it only takes 1 or 2 to screw it up and change the whole exsperiancec Due to some wanting out of desperation ,bang for buck ,so to speak Mr b - Posted from rhpmobile

There are heaps of players (house) parties in Vic, for two or more men per couple (most if not every weekend). I've probably been to most in the past and some a few times each. But while still a sexual interest of mine, I have non-sexual interests and other intimate interests so have settled while seeking other connections or events. In the meantime I'm happy to do things that help out even those I'm not interested in or vice-versa :) (For a while I've been practising exclusivity to one couple). - Posted from rhpmobile

Not sure if I understand you correctly here... But have you thought about just going to a pub or approaching women in the street for a chat?? I'm assuming that that's what you're after??

I went to mikes place on Friday night and there were single guys can't say I've ever had a bad experience with them being pushy or desperate or whatever. Maybe I just don't experience it or maybe it's how each individual interprets their behavior. Our own perceptions color our views of the world after all. Was a great night btw. 😜

From my socialising and friends made in this type of crowd I would go as far as to say I think this is my "tribe". So I'd prefer to meet in a similar network, even if common interests are not all the same, the open mindedness will be shared. I've found some extremely backwards views in general in pubs (mainly from men) plus I rarely drink. - Posted from rhpmobile

When something is wrong... with my ba-by... Something is wrong... with me... OK, to elaborate, my dog is not himself ATM, slow and lethargic. I realise it's probably minor and temporary but it always concerns and affects me. - Posted from rhpmobile

Always stressful when our babies are not themselves, and it's sometimes really difficult to gauge severity. Hope your boy perks up soon xo

I can definitely empathise. I always worry and stress when my boy isn't 100%. Hope your boy feels better soon.
